THE STORY OF THE FORD MUSTANG:

AN AMERICAN ORIGINAL

Ford Mustang is one of the most well known and easily recognized vehicles on the road today. Who would not recognize the sporty chrome horse emblazoned in shiny paint of the Ford Mustang?

But I'm sure many of you do not know the history of the Mustang. Well jump in your time capsule and join me for a ride back to the year 1964. To be more specific, dated March 9, 1964.

It was the first day that the Ford Mustang rolled off the assembly line? It is a white convertible with red interior. It caused a sensation across the nation. As a matter of fact, within 18 months, Ford sold more than 1 million Mustangs!

Just a few months after introduction, Ford began to introduce changes in '65 Mustangs, including a bigger engine, reverse lights, and AC alternators.

In the first two years of its existence, the Mustang broke sales records, public views, and left competitors in the dust.

The next job is to record for the Mustang Chevrolet Corvette in the racing world. work was handled by Carroll Shelby, renowned race car driver and designer. The result was the famous GT / Cobra series of cars.

In 1967, Ford introduced a newly redesigned Mustang, with 335 HP engines, and other improvements, allowing it to continue that popularity.

Ford continues to make improvements and adjustments to the Mustang, and it remains very popular, even when gas prices rise, increased insurance costs, emissions standards, muscle cars, etc. caused some hard times in the 70s. Some competitors Mustangs, like the Barracuda, out of production, but the Ford Mustang continues to sell.

Ford Mustang almost died in the '80s, though, because sales slumped. But Mustang fans started writing Ford letters, and Ford decided to redesign the Mustang and try again. Sales of return, and the Mustang continues to be a popular car to this day.
