What is the maximum horsepower stock 2008 mustang GT can handle it safely?
I am looking to put the supercharger into the car, but do not want excessive and damage to the car. What is the limit before it is too much?
Ford now guarantee their non-intercooled 400 HP Whipple supercharger kit for the GT (5-6 psi increase) and can even installed on an automatic transmission car. Plus, it does not void the warranty of the car. WARRANTIES FOR ANY OF THIS, THE DEALER TO INSTALL IT. If installed in the original warranty period, you get 12 months/12, 000 miles. If you install it when purchasing a new car, you get a warranty 36 months/36, 000 miles on the kit, just like cars. This is the new Ford-year policy changes this. That speaks volumes to me that they thought enough of their work to guarantee it for three years. This is what I will do when I bought my 2009 GT automatic season this fall. Also, they have a kit that, although not warrantied, mounds setup 400 HP to 500 HP with a Ford GT fuel pump (necessary for the flow of additional fuel required), pulley and intercooler is smaller (but is recommended only for the stick shift - it was not going to automatically handle a lot of strength in the 10-11 psi increase). The Whipple supercharger respond faster and more efficiently than Rootes supercharger. Centrifugal response 'is slower than the Whipple or Rootes. There was an article in "Muscle Mustangs & Fast Ford "in the install kit 400 HP a few years ago. It is available on line at their website. Personally, I prefer to install the kit is engineered Ford with all the proper settings (including computer download only for the setup), etc. rather than trying to install after-market. Less hassle and dealers must make work, not you. Plus, this kit is emission legal in all 50 states.
