Why do some car rev higher than the other?
Why car 'some go higher RPM? Like the redline is higher in some. It seems small car will rev higher. Like the Honda Civic will go up to like eight or nine thousand, while the Mustang is only going until like five. So ... why is this? And if there is something you can do for your car to change this? Also, this is taken into account when they say a horse power car,? Oh ... I also do not have a Mustang or Civic. I only use them as an example of the drive. I'm a Jetta. It's somewhere in the middle ... It redlines around 6,500 RPM
This is how the machine was designed. A machine small to produce high horsepower if revved into high RPM. Generally, small engine can rev higher. Also, four or five valves per cylinder and variable valve timing combined with short-stroke piston and create a big hole for a high revving engine. Horsepower is based on RPM, displacement (giving birth, and stroke) and combustion chamber pressure (compression and efficiency volumetric:. This corresponds with the Plank formula P = pressure (increased by the high compression pistons, super / turbocharging, low-restriction intake and exhaust) .. L = length of stroke Area = piston N = number of impulses (power stroke). Takes into account RPM and number of cylinders =. K a constant to balance the formula,. So all other things are equal, if you have 4.6L eight-cylinder engine with 4500 RPM and 2.3: four cylinder with RPM 9000, they must have the same power engine. Honda may be the largest users of high-revving. They use High RPM to get the big horsepower numbers out of a small engine. Manufacturers publish these figures on the number horsepower fuel economy and everyone thinks that the machine they are much better than a larger engine with less power. However, when the engine screaming at max RPM and at full speed, do not get the EPA mileage. Also most people not drive them like that because of noise and wear and tear on the engine. Many of the high-revving engines require premium fuel. Large low-revving engine is heavier and uses more fuel in ordinary driving, but tend to be more drivable (right strengths rather than doing a double shift down) for the daily traffic Most modern. engine electronic rev-limited (although I hardly find some way of VWS is not hard.) This will require a chip to change this. That being said, there is usually a good reason why you do not want to over-spin your engine. In many, the valves will float and valve hammer, causing damage.
